Strawberry Festival

There was a Strawberry Festival around the corner from us tonight,  we took a short walk over to check it out!
Tell me- When you think of a Strawberry Festival- what do you think of?
Personally, I think. . . lots of fresh strawberries . . .maybe some kids games. . . lots of treats made from strawberries . . . maybe some entertainment???
Well this festival was in a tiny basement  & I'm pretty sure we were the only people under 80. When we first walked in everyone was staring at us like we had 10 heads. I think it was more of a church function- but they extended an invite out to our community . . . & we were the only strangers to come? Just a guess?  I paid $8 for us to get in & they gave me a styrofoam bowl with a square of vanilla ice cream with a scoop of frozen strawberries of top. That was it? Seriously, that was the festival!
Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting . . . I peeked around at all the other people & they looked like they were having such a fun time. . . it was sweet! While I was sitting there mad that Strawberry Shortcake wasn’t making an appearance I realized . . .maybe frozen strawberries weren’t so bad . . .

AND in case you were wondering-Charlie & Mosby are back and doing AWESOME- they have cute little shaved bottoms! We spent the morning making sure they were comfortable. Then it was off to school and work. I had a busy day, I am extremely thankful for my job. I truly do have so much fun while I am working!!!! I smiled & laughed a LOT today . . . & when I saw Josh he asked me what the line on the side of my face was . . . it was my smile line! I’m not sure if that is good or bad ? Maybe its time to look into botox-kidding ;)

W is for Wishes

. . .as in Birthday Wishes!!!
First, I’ll start with this lovely lady
Her name is Ann Marie
Years ago she would come in to eat lunch all the time. One day my boss said to her, “ You might as well work here!?” . . . so she did!Now Ann Marie  helps wash the dishes. She was never married & does not have any kids . . .  a few months ago the only family that she had left- her sister, past away. Last week she was crying that she really didn't have anyone that cared about her birthday . . .

Wait it gets even worse . . .
Her cat, who she had for 14 years, died last Thursday . . .so sad:(
People at work were talking about Ann Marie & how they felt bad about what she had been going through. My boss wanted to get her something special & surprise her on her birthday!
I really wanted to at least  try to help  make her birthday a little special?
Yesterday Me & Josh looked all over at different kittens to see if we could find a good match for Ann Marie . . .
Can You guess which one we liked best?!?
Then we picked up a cake &  gifts . . . my boss got everyone together  that was working . . . I even surprised Josh early at school so he could come to the party . . .

I think she was happy-Happy 61st Ann Marie!
Then we had to celebrate another lil’ ladies very special 1ST Birthday!
This is Paige my beautiful niece . . .
This is her big sister Lainey . . . my other beautiful niece,
We had a great dinner:)
Happy Birthday Lil’ Momma
We Love You!

D is for Dentures

D is for dentures

Ewww . . . Just Kidding:)
D is for Deli!
Today I am going to show you where I work part time. (I have talked about it before, so if you have read this before sorry for repeating myself) Right out of high school I wanted to get a part time job while going to college. This was my first time waiting on tables so I wanted to start off at a small place. I never thought that almost 12 years later that I would still be here. I had know idea that my co-workers would turn out to be such great friends!  I have a lot of fun working here & spend most of the time laughing.  . .&eating:) Of course I have my days when I want to spill a drink over someone's head & walk out . . but most days I love it!

I only waitress, these slicers scare me and I would never use them in fear of losing a finger.

Back in the kitchen today they were making yummy Chicken Pasta Salad! I made it when I got home because it looked so good:)
Okay, this is a lame D post, but I couldn't just give up 4 letters into this challenge?! I will try harder tomorrow with  . . .

Banana Pancakes & Bean Bags

It's fun working at a place that makes a wide variety of  food . . . This was my yummy breakfast Monday Morning:)

So I had mentioned in a previous post that I bought a sewing machine, well I love it & I'm having so much fun making all different things for Josh. I started off with the basics . . . throw pillows . . . then I moved on to bean bags.  . .(baby steps;)
Solar System Bean Bags
I used a think canvas material for the bags & all different colored fabrics to make the planets.  Then I used a stencil & different sized glasses to make the planets.
I thought theses bean bags would be fun (& educational!) for Josh.

They are filled with all natural navy beans
Then I made a quick burlap bag for them!
Josh not only loves his set, but I also sold a set to a very sweet woman in Washington on Etsy:)
I will be linking the shop up here but I just started listing a few weeks ago, so I am still trying to figure everything out & get everything set up!!!

Happy St.Patrick's Day

Have I mentioned that I LOVE  . . .

We made them the other day at work, Yummmm! This is my hilarious co-worker who slightly resembles a leprechaun so I thought this would be a good post for St. Patrick's day;)

I finally got to see "Where the Wild Things Are" this past weekend! This was always one of my favorite books to read to Josh. I was very curious to see how they were going to turn it in to a movie. It was  . . .interesting . . . and SAD at the end when Carol makes that long heart breaking noise:(

Happy Saturday

I have waitressed the Saturday morning shift for what seems like forever (there were a few small breaks here & there) With the same 3 lovely ladies that have become like family to me through out the last 12 years. It has never been a burden for me to go to work in the past. It is actually really fun, we laugh a lot . . .talk a lot . . . and eat a lot . . . and it has always been the busiest day of the week~ $o the money was great!
But its been tough since Josh started kindergarten in September . . . and I no longer had any weekdays off with him. I just wanted to lay around and hang out in our pajamas, eat pancakes & do fun things on Saturdays  . . .but I couldn't :(  So in January I finally let them know that I wanted to be with Josh more. My boss is great & he always says, 'motherhood is more important then waitressing':)
My first offical Saturday off  was last week & I LOVED every single second of it.
We went to Chuck E. Cheese's!
This week it was on to Kangaroo U . . .
Not only did I get to sleep in  . . .& get to have an awesome day with Josh! I also stopped by a great Estate Sale & found tons of goodies.
The home was completely retro, it was in beautiful condition . . very clean & well kept.
Each room had its own  brightly colored theme.
I wanted to take more pictures but I didn't want to freak the family out.
I also wanted to move in, but I thought that might freak them out as well?
Did I mention the woman that formally lived in this house was a seamstress!!!
She even color coordinated her buttons in vintage candy boxes . .
I LOVE THESE BUTTONS . . .I have no idea what I could possibly do with all of them but I LOVE THEM!
I also got a bunch of  fabric . . . do you like the orange velvet (again, don't have a clue what I am going to do with it?!?)
I love this black floral tin . . .
A bunch of lace doilies . . .
Vintage thread . . .
This cute orange cat
& white owl  . . .
A black clutch & a GE flip clock . . .

ALL for VERY cheap:)
Most of it will be going to the new Etsy shop that I have been working hard on.

But that will not be open for a few more weeks I will be sure to keep you posted!
Have a great weekend!

Oh Yes & I would like to say  HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY  to my sweet niece . . .
Miss. Lainey
We Love Ya'
