T is for Thrift

As in Thrifty  . . . Thrift Stores or . . .

I remember even back in middle school  going to thrift stores with my friend Megan digging for old t-shirts &  ripped jeans.  There is something about digging through junk to find a great deal or that rare vinage treasure.  For example, I found this box just sitting in the corner at a local shop the other day . . .
so curiously I peeked inside . . .
it was FILLED with beautiful fabric
I am always on the look out for Pyrex(Of course) but recently I have fallen in Love with vintage linens -sheets, pillowcases, table clothes, towels . . . I love the patterns. And now that I can sew I am able to use the fabric for other ideas! I also love vintage fisher-price toys, I'm not sure why, but I do?!  On Tuesdays I have off while Josh is in school so about once a month  I peek around my favorite local thrift stores. I like going at the this time because Josh isn't pestering me to buy every toy in sight  . . . there isn't many people around . . .& it is right after the weekend when they are stocking from the latest drop offs. This week I got to go to several!!!! It has been a while so I was excited to find lots of linens & other little goodies . . .

I still always pick Josh up a little something . . . he loved the fisher price parking garage!

Your post jogged a memory. My mother and her friend used to go to Goodwill every Thursday, bright and early, cause that was unload the truck day. They found some really great stuff. That was many years ago and Goodwill may have changed. I really like the stuff you show in the picture. Good job!

I, too, love thrift shops and have shopped in them for most of my life.

My brothers had that exact parking garage. I loved playing with it. They don't make toys like they used too.

Linens and Pyrex are always my weakness. :) That looks like a Glasbake casserole? And a view master, how fun!

I remember playing with a parking garage like that. I think it was actually in the kindergarten classroom. I am watching for fun toys for my daughter now. Who knew I would wish my mom saved all my toys (like my favorite--my ironing board)!
