Stuff Christians Like . . .

#753 Bragging about being clueless about pop culture.
#750 Thinking the church is not wisely spending your tithe.
#722 Telling someone they shouldn’t tell you about their fast.
#733 Pastor’s Kids Gone Wild
#743 The “Is that contestant on American Idol a Christian? Scorecard”
#704 Fearing your prayer request isn’t “big enough.”
#106 The side hug.
#761 Avoiding door to door witnessing as if it were the plague.
#740 Preparing for Easter.
#630 Awkward opposite sex friendships.
#717 Christian Strangers who ask you awkwardly intimate questions.
#715 Assuming God is a morning person and satan is a night owl.
#710 When people apologize for swearing around you.
#707 Throwing Away the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
#670 Inviting people to church.
#660 Wishing there was a Christian version of Lady Gaga
#657 Seeing your pastor in the wild.
#664 Not knowing what to do with Santa.
#521 Judging people who use the table of contents in their Bible.
#505 Visiting people at the hospital.
#511 Feeling slightly guilty for telling people “good luck.”
#538 Getting tricked into volunteering for VBS.
#527 Thinking God needs you.
#528 Calling someone “anointed.”
#529 Manly man retreats.
#530 Buying a new Bible. (The 9 easy questions you need to ask yourself.)
#553 Wanting to yell, “I still love Jesus!” when you run into someone from the small group you quit.
#400 Homeschooling
#554 Doing things that are “not very Christian.”
#557 Creating tracts that look like money.
#558 Saying you were going to preach a different sermon but God changed it at the last minute.
#563 Keeping at least one non believer friend around strictly for witnessing purposes.
#54 Halloween Hating
#137 Holding retreats at locations that could double as horror movies.
#81 Disguising gossip as prayer.
#405 Saying, "The Bible" when asked what your favorite book is.

I have always been a fan of the blog “Stuff White People like” I think it is hilarious:
For Example:
#124 Hating People Who Wear Ed Hardy
#131 Conan O’Brien
#132 Picking their own Fruit
#42 Sushi
#9 Making you feel bad about not going outside
#2 Religions that their parents don’t belong to
#1 Coffee

Well tonight  when I came across "What Christians Like” I wasn't sure what it was all about  at first  . ..I started to read post after post & It was awesome!Ha- I laughed so hard when I read through them!   Maybe I'm the last to know about this blog??? Jonathan Acuff is the author, he is the son of a preacher and he writes:

"Does the stuff we like, ever get in the way of the God we love?"
"We serve a God who “rises to show us compassion.”
A God who delights in you.
A God who sent his son to the cross not to show the end of His grace, but rather the beginning."

I started thinking of the past years growing in my own walk with the Lord & the silly things that I have done or have witnessed other Christians doing. These post are very sarcastic, but they some how showed me how silly it is that I have added traditions, legalism, & other crazy things  to my faith through the years. When did having a deep personal love for & relationship with God become not enough? When I read through the list  I can't help but to think: I wonder if God laughs at some of the weird things I do as a Christian?

I've been a fan of SCL for awhile now. He's funny, but also insightful and his posts are really honest. I have yet to read the book though. It's on the Amazon wish list!
